Real skills for real careers—in every “stage” of life.

Entertainment is an economic engine for New York State — Broadway and off-Broadway can’t be outsourced!

According to ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY, New York City venues alone spent $2.2 billion producing live theatre in 2010–2011. That included income for thousands of actors, dancers, singers, technicians, writers, directors, choreographers, designers, and many other employees. Like you, we want to see those jobs go to graduates of New York State school districts!

Even beyond stage and screen careers, performance skills are integral to success in the workplace. Understanding goals and motivation, effective verbal and physical communication, creativity, timing, and confidence, connecting with an audience — all of these “soft skills” are important in getting jobs and promotions.

For over 40 years, through the K-12 Sequential Dramatics Program, students in New York State have seen professional actors using—and teaching—techniques like these, and have made strides toward gaining mastery for themselves.

Now the Merry-Go-Round Youth Theatre is proud to take another big step forward in cultivating the next generation of theatre artists and appreciators by offering Musical Theatre Training! Each Spring, Summer, and Fall, we offer unique hands on training opportunities for students from age 6-18. From singing and acting fundamentals to advanced techniques, our classes offer something for every young actor.
